Data Migration
Opal Software has undertaken numerous large scale data migration projects as part of SCADA and Distribution Management System (DMS) implementations.
As DMS become more pervasive in organisations, and the smart grid evolves, data requirements to fulfil operational objectives become more onerous. As well as the migration of data from legacy SCADA systems, there is often a need to extract data from Geographic Information and Asset Management Systems to provide network asset and connectivity data, and customer information systems to provide customer related data used by Trouble Call or Outage Management modules within the DMS.
Opal Software has extensive experience in migrating data from a wide variety of systems into new SCADA/DMS. Our NMS inFusion product <link> has been developed in conjunction with many real projects to provide a fast and effective method of building the electrical network model for a DMS.
For other data migration work, Opal Software will develop data migration specifications and custom data migration tools to ensure fast and accurate mapping of data. Or, if required, provision of experienced cartography and data entry staff for those cases where the data migration process cannot be achieved with fully automated processes.
Opal Software has developed data migration tools to extract data from the following platforms:
SCADA Master Stations
- Siemens Telegyr
- GE XA/21
- GE ENMAC/PoweronFusion
- ABB Network Manager (Ranger and Spider)
- Westinghouse 8051
- Areva
- Serck/Clear SCADA
- SNC Lavalin
- Foxboro 2068 (Rev 4 upwards)
GIS
- Intergraph
- Smallworld
- ESRI (currently under development)
